P2455 DPF pressure sensor: signal or voltage too high ("A")
P2455 means: DPF pressure sensor: signal or voltage too high ("A"). The diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps soot and burns it off from time to time. Drive gently and have the car checked soon. The repair usually costs about €60–300 in Estonia. The most common cause: connector loose, damp or corroded.
What it means
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps soot and burns it off from time to time. The filter is blocked, regeneration fails, or the filter sensor reading is wrong. The signal voltage is too high. Usually a wire is shorted to power, the ground is broken or the part itself has failed.
What you may notice
- DPF or engine light on
- Less power or limp mode
- Higher fuel consumption
- Fan running after switch-off
What could be wrong
- 1Connector loose, damp or corroded
- 2Wire shorted to power or ground broken
- 3Faulty pressure sensor
- 4Engine computer fault (rare)
Repair difficulty: Moderate
What you can check yourself
First look at the connector and wiring: anything loose, melted or green with corrosion? If the DPF light is on, drive steadily on the open road for 20–30 minutes so regeneration can finish. Best left to a workshop. It needs a diagnostic tool and experience.
How we fix it
- We read the fault data on the diagnostic tool and check whether the fault is constant
- We measure the circuit's supply, ground and signal
- We repair the wire or replace the connector
- If the wiring is fine, we replace the pressure sensor
