P2011 Intake swirl/runner flaps: open circuit (bank 2)
P2011 means: Intake swirl/runner flaps: open circuit (bank 2). The intake manifold has swirl or runner flaps that help the engine breathe better at different revs. Drive gently and have the car checked soon. The repair usually costs about €60–300 in Estonia. The most common cause: connector loose, damp or corroded.
What it means
The intake manifold has swirl or runner flaps that help the engine breathe better at different revs. The computer found that the flaps don't move correctly or their sensor is faulty. The computer sees no current in the circuit, so something is open: a wire, a connector or the part's winding. Bank 2 is the side of a V engine without cylinder 1.
What you may notice
- Engine light on
- Less power at certain revs
- Idle may be uneven
What could be wrong
- 1Connector loose, damp or corroded
- 2Wire broken or chafed
- 3Faulty actuator or sensor
- 4Engine computer fault (rare)
Repair difficulty: Moderate
What you can check yourself
First look at the connector and wiring: anything loose, melted or green with corrosion? On some engines a flap can break off and fall into the engine, so don't put this off for long. Best left to a workshop. It needs a diagnostic tool and experience.
How we fix it
- We read the fault data on the diagnostic tool and check whether the fault is constant
- We measure the circuit's supply, ground and signal
- We repair the wire or replace the connector
- If the wiring is fine, we replace the actuator or sensor
