P0328 Knock sensor signal too strong
P0328 means: Knock sensor signal too strong. The knock sensor listens for engine knocking. Drive gently and have the car checked soon. The repair usually costs about €60–300 in Estonia. The most common cause: connector or wire. Other possible causes: sensor has failed or come loose, fuel octane too low.
What it means
The knock sensor listens for engine knocking. If it doesn't work, the engine computer retards the ignition to be safe and the engine loses power. The sensor voltage is too high. Usually a wire is shorted or the sensor has failed.
What could be wrong
- 1Connector or wire
- 2Sensor has failed or come loose
- 3Fuel octane too low
What you can check yourself
Fill up with proper fuel and check the sensor connector. The sensor is on the engine block, under the intake. You can check the simple things yourself, but the repair is best done in a workshop.
How we fix it
- We measure the sensor and wiring
- We check the sensor mounting
- We replace the sensor
